Summer

Summer is here! For many, this season is almost synonymous to vacations, blue skies, and splashing waves. It’s the perfect time to go on a trip. Being a hikikomori, I’m not the type of person to brave the scorching heat and to socialize with lots of people. I usually decline invitations because I’ve always been too lazy to go out. But last year, Loon said she felt like seeing the ocean so hey, why not? This trip was actually long overdue. It was supposed to be last year, but due to the rainy season and being busy mostly, we only got to go last week.

Subic/Olongapo is one of everyone’s go-to destinations when it comes to resorts, which is a great advantage for me since I live here. (And is also ironic because I rarely go to the beach. lol) Loon felt like renting a room even though my place is literally close to the area. She said she wanted to go on a full vacation mode. lol

(All photos were taken through my cp because I was too lazy to bring my camera. My cp cam’s palm trigger mode is a blessing. We can now take pictures together.)

summer3
So here’s our outfit on Day 1.

We rarely go swimming, so why not grab a pretty swimsuit to go with it? I was so happy to find something that is suitable for my body type. We wanted to wear something light but not too revealing. We wanted the final outcome to still look sophisticated despite showing a little bit of skin.

I was supposed to get plain black ones but these prints are beautiful and I wanted something that feels more like summer. People may always see me wearing black, but I always try to wear something colorful whenever I can. Black feels natural for me, but incorporating colors while still keeping my style feels like a bit of a challenge. As soon as I saw this fabric, I thought that it’s something Yuuko might also pick. (She’s my #fashiongoal because she can still look dark and mysterious while wearing colorful outfits.) I also like Loon’s swimwear print because it somehow reminds me of cheongsam fabrics.

I rolled and tied up my hair because it’s too long and keeping it down would make it look hideous in the water. I’ve also read horror stories about loose braids.

summer 1
I wasn’t supposed to post this outfit shot anymore, but Loon loves it so here it is. lol

We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon. We grabbed a bite before taking a dip.

summer10
The pasta was a little bland and they didn’t serve condiments. The bread and drinks were great though. I love the fresh watermelon shake. ❤
summer4
Loon pretending to be dead. lol

After chilling out at the pool area, we went down to check the beach. Compared to the ones I went to with my family way back, the beach area was tiny, but it’s understandable as the place is mainly a hotel. On the brighter side, the place isn’t as crowded as the family-friendly beaches on the other side. And it’s mostly filled with tourists minding their own business. We almost had it all to ourselves.

The shore is surrounded with rocks covered with shells, which are more visible when the water level is shallow in the morning, and gets submerged later in the day.

summer6
Top: A snapshot of the place. ; Bottom: Up close. They’re alive and moving!
summer5
Check out the clean and clear water.
summer13
The previous photo may look romantic but here’s the harsh reality. lol; Comic drawn by Loon. ❤
summer8
Loon was here. lol

After playing around the shore, we went back to our room to have a short rest before going out again.

summer7
This skirt from earth music&ecology feels like it’s made for the beach. The sea green shirt was something inexpensive I bought from a tiangge. I’m not entirely happy with this coordinate but for something I didn’t put a lot of thought on, it turned out okay, I guess.

When the evening came, we had a nice dinner and some cocktail at the hotel’s restaurant by the sea. I heard loud music and spotted people partying at the other side. I felt glad we didn’t go there.

summer9
Loon had an extra-mild glass of Midori Splice. I used to be a heavy-drinker in my younger days, and I didn’t really drink cocktails back then. I rarely drink alcohol nowadays so something as mild and sweet as Midori is a pleasant treat.

Next morning, we strolled around the beach to watch fishes before having breakfast.

summer2
Left photo was taken by Loon.💖 My hairstyle from the previous day gave me loose waves which remained even after shower. And I finally got to wear the beach dress I bought on a whim from ACDC Rag 7 years ago.
summer12
Loon topped her casual outfit with this light and airy sheer dress.

The serene ambiance was perfect for breakfast.

summer11
Too many eggs.

Loon wanted to go back to the beach as soon as we got back home. lol Next time, definitely!

Do not Approach

Just in time for my March update! Due to my packed schedule, I wasn’t able to take new photos. I browsed through my files and found this backlog. I almost forgot about it. I realized it’s been a year! *lol*

032017
(Photography: Hydrogenesis) We had this photo taken in the evening.

I know I’m not as active in social media as I used to be. I’m just too lazy on most days. But I still like to lurk  ̶t̶o̶ ̶o̶b̶s̶e̶r̶v̶e̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶w̶e̶a̶k̶n̶e̶s̶s̶e̶s̶ to stay updated. I think that not being active that much will also give me more time to work on the things that I really want to do.

I only got back to Olongapo a week ago and I’m still catching up on a lot of things. I was planning to come back earlier, but Hide and Loon got sick, and I wanted to take care of them so I extended my stay. More than a month had been my longest stay in Loon’s place so far.

During my stay, Loon and I found a new entertaining hobby. *lol* Crane games!

Loon can finally update her picture frame after 10 years literally. *lol*

On another note, I finally gained weight which I’m thankful for. I’m now back to 45kg, which is my usual weight and also my ideal weight. Thanks to my father and Loon’s delicious cooking.

food.jpg
Loon’s homemade foods. I’d like to say that she’s the ideal wife, but she’s way more than that.

Last December, I started to get into gardening. I bought myself some potted roses and Loon also asked me to take care of her herbs (parsley, lemonbalm, and mint) and succulents. Whew, they are growing so quickly. I want to propagate my roses and to add some fruits and vegetables next.

plants.jpg
My plants. Note to self: I need to move the lemonbalm into a more shaded area to avoid yellowing.
rose.jpg
My rose grew over a feet since I first got it.

I always feel delighted whenever it has new blooms. The flowers have slightly varied colors; some are reddish and some are more on the magenta side. My mother told me that it might have been planted with a double graft or something.

Loon got herself some flowers too.

Staycation

RENOVATION + VALENTINES

I’ve been staying at Loon’s place longer than usual this month. Aside from a lot of things going on, this is due to her plans to renovate her room. When she told me about it a few months ago, I quickly threw in some ideas. Anything that has something to do with designing excites me. And well, when you are too meticulous and your girlfriend needs to have her room painted, you make some time and paint it yourself!

I already have a bit of experience when it comes to painting walls since I painted my own room (with my father) last year. It’s a fairly simple thing to do. And I really insist on doing it myself because as much as I’d want to hire someone else, it’s hard to find people who pay attention to small details nowadays. I randomly find myself staring at little crooks and paint slips and they somehow drive me crazy. (lol) I get the urge to retouch them everytime I see some wherever I go.

Loon also lent a hand and it took us a couple of days to finish everything. It was supposed to finish within 1-2 days but the seller seemed to give us the wrong type of paint, so some areas took a bit longer to dry than expected. That’s why we weren’t able to go out for a date on Valentine’s. (We expected the heavy traffic anyway, so there’s that too.) Though, it didn’t stop us from doing something to celebrate.

02142018-a.jpg

The tradition continues! This year, when Loon asked me what I wanted for Valentines, I thought of something challenging that she hasn’t tried making yet: chocolate lava cake. What she made tasted so heavenly~ She used four types of chocolates to make it. The chocolate lover in me is so pleased.  She also baked some pasta and garlic bread that were so delish~

On the other hand, she asked me to make something simple: custard pudding. Despite being a simple dessert, I wanted to make it more special than usual. I first considered incorporating some flavors, toppings, and designs (to be more extra lol), but in the end, I decided to stick with the original type since it brings out its charm the best. It was my first time to make it, so I was somehow expecting the consistency to be a failure. When I took it out of the mold, I was delighted to find out that it turned out a lot better than I expected. To top it all, I’m so glad Loon loved it too.

HOROSCOPE

We weren’t able to watch the dragon dance this year. I didn’t pay much attention to them in the past, but Loon finds them cute and she always looks forward to watching them every year. They are indeed lively and colorful and fine to see! Too bad we were not updated with the schedules. Gotta plan it earlier next year.

feb.jpg
Shirt says “GLORIOUS” ❤

By the way, I was born in the year of the tiger (*gasp* huge clue~). When Loon looks up stuff about horoscopes, I enjoy reading them too. I don’t believe in the supernatural but it’s fun to have some sort of interest on things like that. Compared to religion and ghosts, I believe they somehow have a liiiitle bit more scientific basis, in terms of gravitational pull maybe.

Extra: NEUTER

We’re taking them one by one. This time, it’s Hide’s turn to get neutered. He was being rowdy lately so Loon decided to get his balls snipped. (lol)

hide.jpg

We were allowed to watch the sedation part. We were surprised about how quickly the injection took effect (a few seconds!). I always thought it took a lot longer than that, maybe 30min or so like the tablets.

By the way, Hide is behaving now and he’s back to his sweet and calm self. (lol)

Unplanned Trip

October is going to be such a busy month. I’m trying to catch up on everything, including this blog. Ah, I missed another update last month. There are just so many things to do. Sometimes, I wonder when will I ever have enough time for real life and everything else I want to work on. *lol*

Last month, Loon stayed at my place and I didn’t feel like posting that much. I just wanted to spend my time lying in bed, eating, and doing lots of fun things.

But surprise, surprise. We had enough energy to show up at Cosmania ’17 afterall.

no mask
First, a no-mask photo. :p

We actually took this photo while falling in line at Watsons. I had a sudden dysmenorrhea so we went to buy some painkillers (which I ended up not taking since the pain went away on its own).

cosmania collage 2
So glad to meet these people. But I’m sad we didn’t see the rest of our friends.

Team Virus! Yes, we were sick – hence, the masks. Loon got a cold a week or so before the event. She asked me not to get too close to her or I’ll get infected. But hey, a cold or whatever won’t stop me, would it? ;p A day later, we both got a flu! Hahaha!

Here’s what we wore at the event:

cosmania outfit.jpg
We didn’t plan it but our outfits somehow matched.

Have a closer look at the dress detail.

I was intending to shop at Cosmania, but we weren’t able to find the things I was looking for.

Here are a few things I got:

hauls 1.jpg

Loon and I got new matching rings. My hand somehow looks manly here. lol

And speaking of finds, here are some more from a recent trip.

hauls 2.jpg
I also want to show the spider earrings, but I left it at Loon’s place.
cp case.jpg
We also got matching cp cases. Can you spot which one is mine?

Before going home, Loon took me to this little cafe that’s so much worth a visit.

taza mia s.jpg
I loved everything, especially their nachos and Ferrero cake. Now, it’s one of my favorite cakes!

I still have lots of stories and I will post more when I can!

Eat, Drink, and Be Scary

August is almost over and that means Xmas my birth month is coming up. The exact date is still a secret though. ;p This year, I have so many plans and I hope everything pushes through.

As for my age, people keep on asking about it but I’ll also keep it to myself. A year ago, I started having a few strands of gray hair. At first, I had unsure feelings about it but then, I realized, “Hey, this actually looks cool. I can rock this.”. Actually, I had been planning to get gray highlights way back, so the fact that they haven’t multiplied by now somehow disappoints me. lol

August 2
Hello, hooman!

It might not be noticeable but lately, I also lost a lot of weight. When I  weighed myself last month, I was down to 39kg, 6kg below my usual weight, and is the lightest I’ve been as an adult. Last time I was this light was around 10 years ago. 45kg, my ideal weight is still way too low for my height (according to the charts, that is). However, I don’t want to be any heavier than this. I love this weight and how it makes me feel. I’d be happy gaining back the usual. So far, I’m 41-42kg, so it’s just a couple more kg to go.

Back in my youth, being underweight used to be one of my greatest insecurities. Aside from being affected by the norms, I always got teased about it too. As I grew up, I realized that there’s nothing wrong with myself. I eat normally and I rarely get sick. I just happen to be one of those people with a fast metabolic rate. In fact, one of the reasons why I prefer having a homebased job is because I can munch on something anytime I want. (Yep, I’m eating something right now too. lol) I can’t eat large portions at once so I easily get hungry. (Don’t invite me to all-you-can-eat buffets. It’s not worth it.) I like eating small to medium portions several times a day. Anyway, learning to be comfortable with myself helped me improve in a lot of things.

August 1.jpg
I love the new palette of my room.

Since I’m trying to gain back my weight lately, I’m also getting back to cooking.

foods.jpg
I love different kinds of pasta and fried rice.

By the way, check out my fabulous new plates! A few weeks ago while I was out for some errands, I passed through the home section and these instantly caught my eye. They are so pretty, right? I got them at an incredibly low price too. I don’t think I’ll want to use these to eat though. I would love to, but I also don’t want them to get ruined so I’m keeping them for now.

plates
Maybe I should buy another set. lol

From Last Year

Last month, although I was able to make more progress compared to my previous pace, I was still disappointed with myself because I knew I was still slacking off. I had been planning to push myself further to accomplish even more this month. I had a lot of things to do in line. But unfortunately, due to struggling with some… health issues, I had no choice but to sit back and take some rest. I’ll probably talk more about these frustrations in my next posts.

On the brighter side, a friend sent some photos he took of us from last year so I can still maintain my two-posts-a-month streak. (Yey~)

These shots were taken when we attended Cosplay Mania last October 2016. I had been trying to avoid saying gloomy things but sadly, these were some of the last few coordinates I styled for us, while we were together as a couple.

Dressing up for me is a form of art. I always feel great satisfaction everytime I find pieces that look like they are made to go together (especially if they’re from different collections/brands). Blending colors and textures in perfect harmony always brings me pleasure beyond words. Clothes and accessories that reflect a part of me are hidden gems. Fashion is like an extension of my skin. (I actually wanted to say “an extension of my soul”, but I don’t believe in souls lol)

I think these coordinates can be classified under what they would refer to in Japan as “puchipura“(プチプラ), as I didn’t choose pieces from the more expensive brands. (The term puchipura was coined from “petit” and “price“).

Anyway, let’s get to it! Here’s what we wore for Day 1. We arrived at the event around 6pm or so because we spent our entire afternoon falling in line for Pablo’s Cheesecake. lol *no regrets*

cosmania1This shot was taken by one of our favorite Filipino photographers, Kira Hokuten.

Loon’s skirt was actually something I bought from ACDC Rag for my little sister around 5 years ago. (She chose it herself lol) She had grown a lot now and it seems like she has no plans of wearing it anymore so I borrowed it for this set.

The chokers and necklaces were Loon’s finds. Her safety pin bracelet was from Bodyline and the cute leg accessory was something commisioned by Ian Cartalaba. Check out his shop here.

It makes me sad that I forgot to include the black cat plush as one of my favorite items in my Friday the 13th post. (I might edit that next time.) I bought this from a random shop in 0101 Shinjuku, if I remember it right. It’s so cute it even has a small pocket at the back. I used to annoy my favorite cat with this plush too.

cosmania2Another great shot by Kira. This one is my favorite among the set. \(^o^)/

I’m not a dog person but as soon as I saw the length, texture, and design of the longsleeves, I was delighted and immediately bought it. I knew it would perfectly match that shirt. The crop top I wore was originally a dress, which I modified. I got the sunglasses from a local street vendor for as low as 50pesos($1). lol Lately, I’m also getting fond of more comfortable pieces such as those pants and shoes.

For Day 2, we decided to go for something more simple because we intended to roam around the event longer.

cosmania4This lovely shot was taken by another friend, Emman. You may visit his page here.

This jumper from Forever 21 felt majestic to wear. lol The lower part somehow reminded me of a certain coat I have from BPN. The sheer fabric was very light and soft and the drape felt like I was wearing a cape. Although, the length made me a little bit paranoid while riding the escalator.

It’s not visible in this photo but at the back of Loon’s shoes, there are black strips with similar “Love” design like the one on her skirt. Her mini panda bag is 3x more adorable up close. It even has a little bamboo design at the tip.

My rabbit bag here belongs to Loon. The design makes me think of Alice in Wonderland. And yes, as you may notice, we “recycled” the bag and shoes for this set too because multiple shoes and bags are too heavy to carry all the way to Manila. (/tagabundok probs)

cosmania-3It was such a windy day! You may visit Kira’s page for more photos like this.

I wish there are more chances to dress up like this. But aside from the Ph heat, I don’t have the vigor to go out that often anymore. (/old people probs lol)

Chocolat

First of all, I finally got a camera remote control. (Yey!) Although, it’s hard to focus using this and it only allows me to have 2 seconds to prepare, as opposed to the camera’s 10-second timer. Brighter side is that it takes a lot less energy compared to going back and forth to the camera to press the button. Next goal: proper lights!

Since I’m not making chocolates this Valentine’s, I decided to dress like one. (Well, two actually. ;p)
brown-f-34150This Liz Lisa jsk immediately reminded me of chocolates as soon as I saw it. It resembles a fancy chocolate box, don’t you think? For the hair accessory, I picked something simple to give it a bit of otona vibe.

Sometimes, people would tell me that they’re curious about how I would look like without my signature bangs. Here you go. I did my makeup differently though. (And let me answer what you’re thinking. Yes, Luna is gone. This abomination devoured her.lol)

Sweet image is one of my weaknesses. As expected, the outcome didn’t turn out as girly as I hoped to be (lol) but that’s just me being me being bittersweet, like how I prefer my chocolates.

brown-m-34150The idea behind this was inspired by Teru’s Rock and Read issue. I took a photo of my dansou self to match the other one.

I might have been eating too much chocolates because I can’t help but think that the coat’s buttons look yummy enough to eat. lol

Anyway, let me give you a peek to what I’m referring to. (I love it so much I got two copies. I was even planning three but practicality got the better of me.)

teruTeru: Someone who can do both

What are your plans for Valentine’s? Like any other day, alone or not, let’s make it a good one. Afterall, the person who loves us most is ourselves.

Bohemian Treehouse Getaway

At the end of 2016, I had been feeling down and some friends had been worried about me (Sorry.). Ricah decided to pay me a visit after new year. (She had been considering the idea since last year anyway.) I suggested a convenient nearby hotel but she opted to book something more interesting. She said she needed a change of scenery too.

She found a Bohemian-inspired treehouse near my town. Since I rarely go out of the house, I didn’t have any idea on how to go there so we took a cab straight to the place after having lunch.

boho-final-xsI wore something light and casual to suit the relaxing ambiance. (Thanks to Ricah for taking these pictures. #snowfallphotography lol)

ricah-boho-final-xsCheck out Ricah’s outfit too. Sadly, we weren’t able to take photos together.

in-xsHere’s the view inside and outside the room. (Hey look, a black cat!) I just took these photos through my mobile phone listlessly so some of them are blurry. I should stop being lazy. lol

decor-sSome of the interesting details I found around the place. This makes me miss our Still Life classes. Ah, good ol’ days.

out-xsTop: More photos outside.; Bottom: The treehouse at dusk.

food-xsLunch at Harborpoint. Most establishments were closed because of the holidays.

In the end, I was not able to relax at all. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not used to going out with other people or the fact that I only got an hour of sleep or less. But still, I’m glad that Ricah invited me to stay in this wonderful place. Thank you!

Friday the 13th

When I woke up in the afternoon today, I thought how fitting it could’ve been if I started my blog on this day instead. Friday the 13th and black cats seem to go well together. Too bad I often lose track of the date as I rarely check the calendar. lol Anyway, what’s done is done. I hate dwelling on things that cannot be changed. To make up for it, I’ve decided to work on something else on a whim. I’m not really sure if I can finish it within the day and I’m not fond of making things impromptu but hey, how about doing it once for a change?

Because it’s Friday the 13th, let me show you a few of my favorite cat items. ♥

friday-xs
I love this top because it brings me back some memories. It’s the one I wore when I had a photo taken with Versailles. ♥

Top and Bottom: I bought them from some random shops at Harajuku 5 years ago. Still loving them.; Middle: A gift I received from Loon last year. It goes so well with my bag. So cute.♥ I will only use this on special occasions.

Bonus: Another Harajuku find. I wasn’t able to take a new photo because it’s so limp now (I hug it too much ok lol)

Hope you had a great Friday the 13th!

ONE

one-m2

Welcome, humans. After a long time, I’ve decided to go out of my lair.

Although I believe I’m not good when it comes to writing, some friends and clients kept on convincing me to start a blog. Anyway, I’ll just keep on typing what comes to mind.

To keep things a little bit more organized, I made this space to compile my photos and things that I will create from now on. This is a personal blog so everything will be about me; thoughts, beliefs, ideas, interests, photos, progress, randomness.

I rarely go out of the house and I don’t socialize much but I love dressing up, so you can expect a lot of outfit posts. It may not look like it but I enjoy eating and ocassionally going to random places too so you may also see a little bit of them.

It’s been over a decade ever since I maintained a Livejournal account and perhaps even longer since I had a public blog. My random musings, which may seem a little too long for Facebook, will get posted here as well.

Despite my tight schedule, I am planning to update this at least twice a month. I hope that this somehow increases my motivation to achieve my goals in mind, which is to move and to be more productive. I want to make every minute count.

Recently, I came across a quote which summed up my driving force.

The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read.
– Mark Twain

It might seem far-off my point but I can relate when I try to look at it in general terms. Even during my inactivity, I always thought that I could create a lot of great things. I have plenty of ideas. I felt frustrated everytime I procrastinated due to my perfectionism and anxiety. I realized that no matter how much capability a person has, being stagnant and not being able to apply it to reality is a lot worse than someone who can only produce mediocre things but tries and improves. I want to take advantage of the aspects of life that I can reshape and hone. As an artist, I want to keep on creating things. And from this point, I’ll start another chapter.
